Couples and family therapy

Ashley Uchiyama

I believe healing, growth, and change occur through gaining insight and processing emotions.

Compassionate, Emotion-Focused Therapy

Meeting You in Life’s Darkest Moments

Authentic, Direct, and Supportive Counseling

My Approach

In my practice, I use an integrative approach tailored to meet clients’ individual needs. This approach is rooted in attachment and emotion-based theories. My goal is to create a therapeutic environment that allows clients to feel seen, understood, validated, and valued for who they are. I bring warmth, empathy, humor, and my own humanity into sessions.

From my perspective, I believe emotions drive behavior, and I meet clients at their darkest hours without judgement. I have personally been impacted by trauma, grief, infertility, addiction, and chronic illness. Therefore, I am comfortable maintaining a presence with clients in the depths of their emotions.

As a therapist, I will sit in the murk with you, acting as an anchor, while we sift through pain, loss, fear, the unknown, etc. Together we will help you uncover and rediscover your truest self, emboldening your already-existing strengths.

Get to Know Me

I am a Denver-based therapist, and a Colorado native. While I have lived in other states throughout the country during various periods in my life, I always find my way back to Colorado. The mountains feed my soul.

I live with my husband, son, and two rambunctious dogs. I enjoy being in nature, reading books, creating/making things, and spending time with family and friends.
